    WCG has long history.

The WCG has a wide history and is one of the longest-running esports tournaments, and its first edition of the tournament took place in 2000. Every year, it’s an in-game game.

The esports event has been happening continuously for 13 years from its beginning in 2000 but was shut down in 2014. However, the participants at the event said it was impossible to work with the organizers.

The tournaments closed for the whole year, but the WCG wasn’t just finished yet. In March 2017, the WCG trademark was transferred to Korea’s famous Smilegate and the tournament returned in 2019 with a prize pool of more than 600 000 and six games, one of which was Clash Royale. This was in China.

Even if esports plans had been redeveloped, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. The WCG 2020 was played on-line, although that was a smaller event with about $285,000 on the line across 4 games. Then in 2021 and 2022, no WCG were held, many esports fraternity assuming a new death for the competition.

We have the feeling that a revival is coming. WCG 2023 does an experiment to regain past glory.
