How is Kabukimono related to Scaramouche in Genshin Impact?
Kabukimono was Scaramouche’s first name and is one of the many names he picked up over the years. When Ei first created a puppet to hold the Gnosis, he noticed that he shed tears during the night. Not wanting a frail being to feel weighed down by the weight of divine power, he sealed his powers away and left him in the Shakkei Pavilion. The puppet, who we know better as Scaramouche, remained nameless.
Around the same time, a person named Katsuragi, who was working with the blacksmith Niwa, discovered the Shakkei Pavilion. He began to explore the Domain, only to find the lone puppet. He took the puppet back to Tatarasuna, where the people began to call it Kabukimono. Eventually, he came to experience many tragedies perpetuated by Dottore. When Kabukimono finally joined the Fatui Harbingers, he became known as Kunikuzushi, code name Scaramouche.

What does kabukimono mean?
Kabukimono was a term used to describe roving and violent bands of samurai in Japan’s Feudal Era. The word can be directly translated as “strange things” as it is believed to be the origin of kabuki, a style of Japanese theater that focuses on highly stylized acting. Scaramouche’s middle name, Kunkuzushi, is based on a kabuki character, so there is an impression of evolution in his identity change.
