As to how each Game Awards nominee for each category is decided, all are chosen by “an international jury of over 100 global media and influencer outlets, selected for their history of critical video game evaluation”, as stated by The Game Awards FAQ section.

To be eligible, all nominees for The Game Awards need to have been made “available for public consumption on or before” a particular November 2023 date. The said cut-off date is yet to be announced, but last year’s was Friday, November 18, 2022 at 9pm (PT) whilst the year before’s was November 20, 2021.

From the announcement of this year’s nominees until Wednesday, December 7 at 6pm (PT), The Game Awards 2023 winners will be decided by a blended vote between the aforementioned jury – accounting for 90% of said vote- and a public vote accounting for 10%.
