Constructing new buildings in Manor Lords requires you to know every detail about your land. I’ll show you how to use the underground water overlay in Manor Lords so you can find all the hidden water reservoirs on your land.
How to use the groundwater overlay in Manor Lords
The groundwater overlay is activated from the construction menu. Open the build menu by pressing the build button at the bottom of the screen. It’s the second button from the left and has a hammer on it.
After opening the build menu, a small list of overlays written in white will appear on the right side of the screen. The second overlap on this list is “groundwater.” Press this button to activate the groundwater overlay. The text will turn yellow when the overlay is activated.

With the overlay enabled, any groundwater source will appear as a blue overlay on the terrain.
Structures such as wells can be placed within the blue area to utilize the water from the underground river.
Fixed “Groundwater overlay not working” issue in Manor Lords
In Manor Lords, some players have the problem that activating the groundwater overlay does nothing.
This issue is most likely due to a problem in the world setting. In particular, it concerns the Well Location configuration. If the Well Location is set to “unrestricted”, the groundwater overlay will not appear on the map.
To avoid this, make sure the Well Location setting is set to “groundwater.” I recommend checking this setting before starting a map and checking the overlay at the beginning to make sure it works. This will prevent you from having to restart after making decent progress.
If the proper configuration is chosen, the groundwater layer will work.
