I usually tolerate the ping, but only for turn-based games. A high ping in an action RPG like Wuthering Waves could cost you a lot of lost resources, time, and important events. Here’s how to fix it.
How to Reduce Wuthering Waves High Ping
If your ping is less than 100, I’d say you’re lucky. Currently, WuWa is not highly optimized for many devices, especially PC, which causes a lot of lags and errors.
Fortunately, with a little patience and reworking, you can reduce the high ping a bit. Aim for something under 150, at least.
Choose the server closest to your geographic location
We’ve talked a lot about how to choose the right server for WuWa, even taking into account other factors like co-op. But if low ping is your priority, then the best solution is to play on a server that is close to your location.
- America
- Europe
- Asia (servers are in Japan)
- HMT (Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan)
- SEA (closest to Singapore)
For example, if you are in Australia, it is best to enter the SEA server, whose servers are in Singapore.
You can also choose servers that seem less congested (such as HMT), but your proximity to the server is even more important.
Also, if you didn’t know, saves don’t transfer between servers. It’s one save per server, per account. Only consider this solution if you’re not that familiar with WuWa yet (or if you pulled the wrong Resonator).
Reduce your graphic settings
It hurts to play games with lower graphics quality or even FPS, but sometimes you have to do it. If you have a high ping, definitely open your settings and change some of the default parameters. Here is our configuration recommendation for an optimized Wuthering Waves experience.
You always want your configuration load to be green (no problem).
Play on WiFi (or better WiFi)
Gaming on mobile data can cause high ping simply because the network is less stable. You are also sharing the (mobile) tower with hundreds of other people. A private WiFi router ensures that you are playing on your private connection.
If you’re a PC, definitely consider connecting your computer with a LAN cable as well. I can’t take any chances with these action games.
Close other programs or tabs
If your device is not optimized for gaming, close other programs when playing WuWa. This will cause your device to heat up less, which can reduce overall lag.
Also pause any downloads that are running in the background, especially if your bandwidth is not high enough to guarantee the quality of your server connection.
Wait for a patch to be released
If none of the above solutions work, then you are facing a problem on the part of the developer; more specifically, poor optimization. There are a lot of WuWa players like you who have very good setups and miss the 80ms ping of Genshin Impact. As of version 1.0, it doesn’t really feel like Wuthering Waves is launching as a perfect game.
