Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is almost here – less than 24 hours until it launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 on October 20th. We love the game – you can read. Informant in the game Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 review here – and we’re excited to hear what our audience thinks about it. We’ve got plenty of spoiler-free Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 tips for you to read before embarking on your next Spidey adventure, but here I want to discuss what I think is the game’s best graphics mode.

Now, before I delve into the technology behind the various visual settings for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from developer Insomniac Games, I’d like to preface by saying that for the best graphics mode with a 120 HZ refresh rate A TV or monitor is required. Many monitors have done this over the years, and since the launch of the PlayStation 5 generation in 2020, more and more TVs capable of this refresh rate have been released (but admittedly, they cost a pretty penny Is).

If you don’t have a 120 HZ refresh rate TV or monitor, don’t sweat it – both standard fidelity (4K resolution at 30 FPS) and performance (dynamic 4K resolution with a 60 FPS target) look and feel great so you can Don’t be wrong

The best graphics mod for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

If you don’t care for either reason, I’ll save you the trouble: The best graphics mode for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is easily Fidelity with VRR (Smoothed) and 120 HZ mode set to Auto.. Now, as you can imagine, activating all of this requires a 120 HZ TV or monitor with a variable refresh rate and 4K resolution.

    Let’s talk about why.

Most gamers are familiar with 30 FPS gaming and 60 FPS gaming. It’s common for console gamers of this generation to have two choices, with 30 FPS usually aiming for a higher, more visually impressive resolution and 60 FPS being something to maintain a higher frame rate. Loses visual fidelity. But some developers, like Insomniac Games, are using the technology behind the 120 HZ refresh rate to deliver 40 FPS gaming at 4K resolution. And oddly enough, 40 FPS is basically halfway between 30 FPS and 60 FPS, even though the math would have you believe otherwise.

At a 60 FPS or 60 HZ refresh rate, there are approximately 16.67 milliseconds between each frame. At a 30 FPS or 30 HZ refresh rate, there are approximately 33.3 milliseconds between each frame. At a 40 FPS or 40 HZ refresh rate, there are approximately 25 milliseconds between each frame, and exactly 25 milliseconds halfway between 16.67 milliseconds and 33.3 milliseconds. This is why 40 FPS, or 40 HZ, is halfway between 30 FPS and 60 FPS gaming. As a result, while only 10 frames or more than 30 HZ, 40 FPS gaming will feel much closer to 60 FPS gaming than you might expect.

Generally, to push a game beyond 30 FPS, you have to sacrifice some of the visual fidelity you would otherwise gain. But since Insomniac Games uses a 120 HZ TV and monitor to tap into 40 FPS gaming, players can still retain all the beauty and visuals of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s Fidelity mode while playing at a higher frame rate. are Insomniac Games also goes a step further for players with TVs or monitors that have VRR.

With VRR on, you can then choose either Smoothed, which will maintain resolution and target a stable framerate, or Uncapped, which will allow lower resolution to target a higher, more variable framerate. will Personally, I prefer the smooth way to retain the beautiful 4K visuals of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but after testing both, you can’t go wrong.

Here’s what Insomniac Games’ graphics mode settings look like in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2:

    • sincere: This mode targets 30 frames per second and offers the highest image quality and resolution. All ray tracing features are on, including ray tracing reflections, ray tracing on water, and window interiors. All graphics systems are maximized, including pedestrian density, traffic density, and hair detail.
    • performance: This mode targets 60 frames per second. It includes ray tracing features that are handy for some use cases. Pedestrian and traffic density may be reduced in some areas, and finer detailing is simplified.
    • VRR: When properly set in console settings, use the variable refresh rate of compatible displays to optimize resolution or frame rate based on gameplay.
      • smooth Will maintain resolution and target a stable framerate. Uncapped A lower resolution will allow a higher, more variable frame rate to be targeted.
      • The corresponding setting is found in Settings -> Screen and Video -> Video Output -> VRR in PS5.
    • 120 HZ display mode: When properly set in console settings, use the 120 HZ refresh rate of compatible displays to reduce input latency and enable higher frame rates. The frame rate target for the “Fidelity” graphics mode has been increased to 40 frames per second. If VRR is also enabled, frame rates will increase further and vary based on gameplay.
      • RELATED SYSTEM SETTINGS In PS5 Settings -> Screen & Video -> Video Output -> Enable 120 HZ output.
      • Adjusting this setting applies to all reserved slots.

I’d like to note that at the end of the day, you should just use the visual settings and graphics modes you like – there’s no right or wrong answer, but I’m very comfortable tinkering with these types of settings and technologies. Spend more time and want. Hopefully that gives you an easy-to-understand guide that explains what I consider to be the best graphics mod in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
