The great Marvel Cinematic Universe has always been mainstay of Ant-Man. The sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will take a further step towards the development of Scott Lang.

In a recent interview with the Nerdbunker during a press tour of the upcoming film, director Peyton Reed was asked about the changes that Scott has gone through, from an ex-convict to someone who helped save the universe.

Reed said that the changes were gratifying, as they didn’t really know how audience would accept both Paul Rudd and Ant-Man’s character as a legitimate superhero.

It’s really gratifying because Paul and I started the first film, said Reed. It’s a question of whether people accept Paul Rudd’s comical status? Will people accept Ant-Man, a guy who crawls and controls ants, as a character? And if they are, and it’s really gratifying, and I think that audience relate to Scott Lang, because he doesn’t have superpowers, he’s not a superscientist, and he’s not a billionaire. He’s a regular person who gets caught up in the adventures. But I think we all have grown like that: what we want to do with the movies, and how we see the character, and what the family dynamics.

This will play a role when Lang comes to meet Kang the Conqueror, who’s over time and likely can go to the office of a local agent.

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumaniais being drawn from a screenplay written by Jeff Loveness again. The action-comedy superhero sequel will be released on February 17, 2023.
