Gamers love to customize their characters in any game, and Rust is no stranger to this desire. However, it’s not clear to anyone new to Rust how or even if it’s possible to change and customize your character.
Can you customize and change characters in Rust?
If you’re wondering if it’s possible to change characters or customize them in Rust, the answer is no and yes. In short, players can customize their characters in the sense that they can equip all kinds of clothing and armor. These items can also have unique skins to change their appearance to your liking. However, if you want to change the physical appearance of your character, you can’t. Rust has never featured an option for physical appearance or gender change. Instead, character creation is based on a Steam ID system where it mimics real life.

How to Equip Skins in Rust
If you’re disappointed by the lack of character customization options, you can still customize by equipping skins on your items in Rust. To equip skins on your items, you need to have a few skins in your Steam inventory. You can obtain skins by purchasing them through the Steam Mall, and when you have some, you can equip them directly through the crafting menu. Within the create menu, you can select skins over the create button at the bottom left of your screen.
