The Paldea region in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is teeming with rare and exotic Pokémon to catch. Since this is the first game in the main open-world series, there’s nothing stopping players from catching some of the strongest Pokémon early on. All a trainer needs is to know where to look and they can quickly nab a threatening squad.

Where should high level Pokémon trainers look in Scarlet & Violet?

    11. Mountain in the Southern Province, Area One

This is the best area to explore in the early game of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The mountain features a winding path that Miraidon can climb without any upgrades. Most level 18 Swablu dwell in this area, but as players get further, they may encounter Axew and maybe even Bagon.

    10. The Tunnels in the Eastern Province, Area Three

Being one of the largest areas in the game, there are plenty of tunnels to explore. Most have Digglet and Makuhita, but occasionally players can find oddities like Sableye, Bagon, and even Gabite going in and out of these tunnels.

    9. Plateau in the Southern Province, Area Five

This area is very easy to miss. Players begin their journeys in the Southern Province, but Miraidon cannot climb this plateau without the Climb ability. Once Miraidon is able to get there, players can encounter various Dragon Pokemon, as well as Bronzong, Luxray, Espathra, and others.

    8. Dalizapa Passage

Players will most likely find this area past Tagtree Thicket on their way to Glazed Mountain. The Dalizapa Passage is a small crevice in front of the mountain that is home to many Gabite and Medicham. Lucky players can also find Frigibax, which turns into the pseudo-legendary Baxcalibur.

    7. Glazed Mountain

Despite being a snowy mountain, there’s a decent variety of Pokemon to catch here outside of Ice-types. Sure, trainers will run into plenty of Cetoddle, Frigibax, and Sneasel here. However, Greivard also likes to hang out on this mountain, as well as Bronzong and even Hawlucha.

    6. Northern Province, Area Three

There isn’t much in this area outside of Team Star Camp for Ortega. However, if players stick around afterward, they will find plenty of Pokemon around level 50. Floette can be found on the mainland, and things like Eiscue and Gyarados can be found in the surrounding waters.

    5. Southern Province, Area Six

There are two parts to this area: the mountain where the Psychic Gym rests, and the cave below it. There are a fair number of level 48 Ghost and Psychic-types on the mountain (Misdreavaus, Bronzong, Espathra, etc.), but many fans will be more excited to look for Garchomp in the cavern below.

    4. Socarrat Trail

Outside of the huge Ting Lu that rests inside the sanctuary at Socarat Trail, there are plenty of Pokemon in this area in the level 50 range. Most of them are Bug or Grass-types (Toadscruel, Foretress, Heracross, Lurantis, etc.).

    3. Lake Casseroya

This area is basically a safe haven for level 50 Water-type Pokémon. Trainers will not only find the titan Dondozo and Tatsugiri, but Gyarados, Slowbro, and Avalugg will swim here and others.

    2. Falls of Fury

It takes a bit of effort to get here (either going down the east side of Glazed Mountain or up the Area Three side of the Eastern Province), but it’s worth it. Almost all of the Pokemon here (including Luxray, Scyther, and Bisharp) are above level 50. The surrounding areas are also home to Drakloak and Noivern.

    1.The Great Crater of Paldea

No wonder Professor Clavell doesn’t want any students to go there. Some of the strongest Pokémon in the region are found in the Great Crater of Paldea (Corviknight, Raichu, etc.). The further down the player goes, the closer the Pokémon get to level 60, until they finally start seeing Paradox Pokémon.
