    If there’s one thing that Warhammer 40,000 can boast of, aside from grim darkness and some seriously dark British humor, it’s a huge gun. Whether it’s gyro-jet bolters, plasma cannons or practically anything the Tau are toting, bigger really is better.

    So it’s no surprise that Warhammer 40,000: Tacticus’ latest update focuses entirely on war machines. These new units would be deployed off the grid and not part of general combat, usually as artillery, while having both passive and active capabilities.

    In the trailer, we can see many of them in action from the Imperial Guard, Chaos and Tyranid factions. Judging by their use here, it looks like we’ll be getting a lot of new options to deal damage to your opponent.

    Machines will be usable in the following game modes: Arena, Tournament Arena (some restrictions apply), Guild Raid and Guild War.

    Heavy machinery

    Given Warhammer 40,000’s focus on massive weapons of war, the somewhat limited size of the arenas in Tacticus may be a bit at odds. Of course, given the huge tabletop units like Bunnyblade or Avatar of Khine primarily appear as Raid Bosses, having them as standard units would be a bit problematic.

    War Machines, as they are, offer a nice middle ground. Where you can represent popular weapons from the tabletop, but introduce it in a way that doesn’t interfere with existing mechanics.
