    • Twitch’s discovery feed is live on iOS and Android as of today.
    • It allows you to watch feeds, clips and more from streamers Twitch thinks you might like.
    • The move is meant to give people more to watch when they’re not watching live.

Streaming site Twitch is set to roll out a new discovery feed for its mobile app on iOS and Android. The Discover Feed is basically what it says on the ton, and is a dedicated section of the app to show you new streamers and communities. It will include both live and clips feeds, with recommended content creators and features clips from their streams.

According to Twitch, most viewers only visit the site when they know they want to watch a streamer live, and when they have at least 30 minutes to spare. Discovery Feed then aims to draw people to the mobile app when they have time to spare.

The introduction of the new Discovery Feed is part of Twitch’s goal to grow the site and expand the audience of content creators. Although here at PocketGamer Towers we’re debating whether this could also be an attempt to challenge short-form apps like TikTok that are also taking a piece of the gaming pie. It’s also worth noting that Twitch seems to be prioritizing mobile here, which makes a lot of sense given the growth of mobile gaming as a streaming genre.

Don’t panic The upcoming live event Twitchcon is an example of expanding Twitch’s general audience.

CEO Dan Clancy recently penned an open letter to content creators on Twitch Presenting the company’s plans to expand the platform, and thus their audience. But it’s likely that the feed will only be visible to existing users who, as mentioned earlier, aren’t interested in other streamers. So while a discovery feed is a step in the right direction, it’s likely that it’s just part of a growing move to test the growth the streaming platform has seen before.
