How to Clean Meteor Shower Debris Properly

I used to launch rockets that attracted uranium/iridium, then hunt mixed loot in rocks for ten or fifteen minutes. Then I learned to launch them at night, because it’s easier to see the loot. Recently, I learned a better way – after the meteor shower ends, just send a rocket that triggers a fresh meteor shower (heat/pressure bonus rocket).

The game only allows a certain amount of debris in the game at a time. As meteors from other showers begin impacting, debris (but not shiny debris) from the previous shower disappears. If you have two launchpads (or multiple ‘meteor shelters’) setup, you can use this to your advantage, even if the first meteor shower is a random event. If the first shower lands in area A (e.g. a high plain with a lake bed), you can go to area B (e.g. a desert with a large shipwreck) and rocket the second shower. (Meteor shower automatically targets the area around the player, even if the player moves during the meteor shower).

When the other shower’s meteors stop hitting the ground, return to area A and find all your loot waiting to be harvested by Khasut, with no debris piles. Once you’ve picked them all up, stop looting and then head back to area B (where most of your debris will be gone over time).

This won’t work very well for super alloy showers (they wear off in 30-45 seconds) but debris limits still apply, so if you’re chasing SA meteors for loot, After the fifth or sixth meteor hits the ground, you’ll see the debris from earlier disappear – chase them for maximum profit (although I think you’re crazy to be out in the SA shower ). For all other meteor showers (looking at you for osmium/sulphur) then ‘send a rocket to clear the first shower with the second’ works well, and even makes it between two launchpads/areas. Can be intentionally bound.

Also, don’t log out if you want to loot meteors. Loot only occurs during an active session.

And if someone is just starting out, those first two rockets are the way to get uranium and iridium unless you have T2 miners…
