Pokémon GO’s annual Halloween event has arrived and one of this year’s quests requires you to take a snapshot of a ghost-type Pokémon.

Although the quest seems simple enough, I’ve seen many players complain on Reddit that ghost-type bug snapshots don’t count toward completing the quest. If you are also facing the same issue, here is everything you need to know to resolve the “Ghost type snapshot not working in Pokémon GO” issue.

How to Take a Snapshot of Ghost-Type Pokémon in Pokémon GO’s Halloween Event

To complete this Halloween timed research quest, Pokémon GO players must take a snapshot of Ghost-type Pokémon. stored in your inventory. Some players were unable to complete the Halloween Timed Research because they took photos of Ghost-type Pokémon in the wild instead of from their storage. This was not his fault, as the game developers did not mention this requirement in the instructions.

This came to light when a user reported this issue on X (Twitter) and asked for help. Niantic Support answered with the following message:

Sorry for the confusion, Diane! The task may not be completed if you take a snapshot of a wild Ghost-type Pokémon. Take a snapshot of the Ghost-type Pokémon in your Pokémon storage and see if it helps you. If you continue to experience a problem, please let us know!
