Nintendo has revealed that Super Mario Bros. is the fastest-selling game in the Wonder series.

Yesterday, we learned that the Nintendo Switch has surpassed 132 million units sold with strong results from recent first-party releases like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4. Now, Nintendo has revealed that its latest first-party release, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, is the fastest-selling game in the Super Mario series. It achieved this record after selling over 4.3 million units in two weeks.

“Super Mario Bros. Wonder, which was released worldwide on October 20, achieved worldwide cumulative sales of 4.3 million units in its first two weeks,” Nintendo’s Financial briefing reads “This makes it the fastest-selling Super Mario-related title. Super Mario-related titles have also been consistently selling for a long time. We hope that this title will be a hit with consumers during the upcoming holiday season.” Will be an attractive choice and will continue to sell. Next year too.”

Nintendo highlights the caveat that it has been collecting data only through cells since the Nintendo DS and Wii generations, namely Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the best-selling Super Mario game since the collection launched during the Wii and DS generations. This could mean that the first Super Mario games sold faster, but that is unknown. Still, 4.3 million copies sold in two weeks is an impressive feat for the first new entry in the side-scrolling Super Mario series in 11 years.

Nintendo attributes part of the game’s sales success. Super Mario Bros. Movie, which hit theaters in April and quickly earned the best opening ever for an animated film. It’s no surprise that Nintendo is following up on that success with a live-action Legend of Zelda movie, which it announced yesterday.

Along with the news of Super Mario Bros. Wonder sales, Nintendo also highlighted that Mario’s success is likely due to this month’s Super Mario RPG remake, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, a remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand – The same will continue with future Mario-related releases. Door of the Year, Princess Peach Showtime, and its HD remaster of Luigi’s Mansion 2.
