Barely a month after Genshin Impact’s first DMCA subpoena against leaker Ubatcha, Cognosphere has reportedly continued to file similar complaints through the California District Court. The publisher has reportedly filed four more DMCA subpoenas against popular Discord channels where leaks commonly circulate:
- 原神内鬼爆料区 (meaning ‘Genshin Impact Leakers Group’), aimed primarily at user Linxian#0001
- House of Daena, mainly aimed at users LJ.#8200, M9G#3656 and rice cooker#9289
The attached documents include screenshots of leaked information about Wanderer and Faruzan, which were released in the Genshin Impact v3.3 update. Subpoenas can only be filed after DMCA takedown notices have been sent. Typically, this would force Discord to provide identifying information about affected users, such as their name, address, phone number, IP address, and email address. Users may also face suspension from the platform.

Interestingly, the timing of the subpoenas aligns with the recent spate of Fontaine leaks, which began circulating seven months before the region’s approximate release period. Given the delays in legal proceedings, an even bigger wave of DMCA subpoenas is likely to spread once HoYoverse and Cognosphere have sorted out all the necessary paperwork.
Meanwhile, they have been actively send DMCA takedown notices leakers, such as popular Twitter user @FontaineDaily. His list of victims includes creators who have shared fanart of leaked Fontaine characters, prompting several artists to remove their work for safety reasons. Ubatcha, the first target in this DMCA fiasco, has been able to return to your online activities without any legal problems, but it is not clear how others will fare in this game of cat and mouse.
