Wayfinder is an action multiplayer game set in a fantasy world. That was enough for me to want to check it out, especially as I heard it is free to play. But I was asked to open my wallet and support developers via Founders Packs when I wanted to download it. What is that all about, and is Wayfinder free-to-play or not? Here’s everything you need to know about playing Wayfinder in early access.
Is Wayfinder Early Access free?
Unfortunately, the Wayfinder Early Access version is not a free-to-play game. The game is not free during the early access period to allow developers to get the finance needed to complete the title. Also, they want to have as many serious players as possible, so they can improve the game’s segments before it’s officially launched.

What is Founder’s Pack – Wayfinder
Founder’s Packs feature exclusive items, skins, and resources in Wayfinder. While those are primarily cosmetics that you can live without, you must buy a Founder’s Pack to play Wayfinder early access. The Founder’s Packs range in price from $19.99 to $149.99, and they come with various exclusive content, such as cosmetics, pets, and mounts. Here are some of the benefits of the Founder’s Packs for Wayfinder early access:
- Early access to the game
- Exclusive cosmetics, pets, and mounts (Charger’s Sickle Sword and Shield skin)
- 1000 Runesilver
- Fayfinder Tokens for unlocking heroes
- Paid Founder’s Season 1 Reward Tower
- Permanent experience boost
- Heroic Kyros (only in Exalted Founder’s Pack)
Is Wayfinder 1.0 Free to Play?
The full version of Wayfinder will be free to play, but there will be an in-game store where players can purchase cosmetics, boosters, and other items. The developers are adamant they’ll not sell any pay-to-win items in the game store. The duration of early access is around six months, as the full game Wayfinder release date is set for early 2024. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Wayfinder early access is available on PC (Steam), PS4, and PS5.
