How to break Umami blocks in Another Crab’s Treasure
If you’ve been trying to break these cubes with every attack, shell, and adaptation you could find and nothing worked, we’re in the same boat. Every time I discovered a new power, I would run back to try to break the Umami blocks in Another Crab’s Treasure, but nothing worked.
Of course, that’s because I haven’t yet discovered the most useful secret: Grovekeeper Topoda and its location. It has an adaptation called Mantis Punch which deals a lot of damage to enemies, but more importantly, can pass through glowing purple blocks infused with Umami’s power.

It is very easy to miss Topoda if you choose to run past the Curdled Village Sniper Crab every time like I do. However, if you want to complete the game completely, you will have to beat it. on the ledge and follow the trail until you reach the secret boss.
Once you defeat him, Krill will let him live, leaving Topoda grateful. He will then give you the adaptation of Mantis Punch. Now he will also be available for adaptation updatesso you can come back at any time and improve your adaptations to obtain crystals.
With the power, you can now go through the different areas and destroy umami blocks. usually they give you best rewardslike the Old World Whorl that increases your Umami loads.
However, they will also hide more secret bosses. The purple block in the Grove actually hides the path to the Consortium, another secret boss. You’ll also want to defeat him, as you’ll get a new adaptation called Tactical Tentacle. This summons an Umami tentacle that copies your attack moves to deal additional damage.
