Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer mode on PC requires a PSN account, but not the single-player story.

    Ghost of Tsushima, the hit 2020 PlayStation exclusive samurai game, arrives on PC on May 16, and ahead of the game’s launch there, developer Sucker Punch Productions has revealed that players will be able to play through the game’s single-player mode. will not require a PlayStation Network account. However, a PSN account will be required to play through Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer Legends mode, or if you want to use the new PlayStation PC overlay to earn trophies and more.

    This follows last week’s news where PlayStation announced (and later backtracked) that Helldivers 2 players will soon need to link a PSN account to their Steam account, much to the chagrin of the game’s community. But anger has spread. It looks like Soccer Punch wants to go one step further by revealing its PSN plans ahead of the game’s launch in 10 days.

    If you’re unfamiliar with Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, it’s a standalone multiplayer experience that allows you and up to three other players to battle enemies in special missions, defeat waves of enemies, and complete raids. A PSN account is required to play Legends, but you won’t need one if you want to play through the game’s story (and the Iki Island expansion).

    Ghost of Tsushima hits PlayStation 4 on July 17, 2020, before launching on PlayStation 5 with the Director’s Cut on August 20, 2021. This is the version of the game hitting PC in 10 days on May 16, 2024.
