If you’re not familiar, Dungeon&Fighter is the hit action RPG franchise from Korean developer Nexon. You probably know it from the recently released Arc System Works (it’s still recent to me, dammit) fighting game DNF Duel, but the series has been massively popular for over a decade.
A side-scrolling 2D action game with multiplayer elements, Dungeon&Fighter Mobile promises an evolving story, role-playing elements and more, all built specifically for mobile.
Down in the depths of the dungeon
While it may be more business than you’ve heard, Dungeon & Fighter hitting storefronts in China is big news. It’s one of the largest mobile markets in the world, so any foreign game getting a foothold is very annoying. Although, given that Dungeon & Fighter is being published by Chinese media giant Tencent, we shouldn’t be surprised that it’s making such an impact.
As for the global launch, well, who’s to say? Although we guess it’s not as likely as you think. Tencent has already made a splash with the announcement that they are taking over the hugely popular MOBA Honor of Kings.
Of course, with this move, we could see a long time before DNF Mobile goes global as Tencent may want to stagger their big releases and make sure they are ready for the global market.
