There are a limited number of weapons available in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 open beta. Of all the weapons, I think the submachine guns (SMGs) are dominant, even after the recent nerfs. In this guide, you will find the best SMG loadouts and attachments to use in MW3 Beta.
Best SMG Setups for Modern Warfare 3 Beta
If you want a competitive short-range SMG, try the following versions of the SMG Striker and Rival-9.
Best Striker Loadout Modern Warfare 3 Beta
- Barrel: Striker Recon Long Barrel
- Optical: MK.23 reflector
- Stock: Lachmann MK2 light cylinder head
- Ammunition: .45 High Grain Auto
The Striker SMG is my favorite weapon to use in Modern Warfare 3 Beta thanks to its incredible accuracy and fast time-to-kill (TTK). I have equipped the Long Barrel to improve range, bullet speed and recoil control. Range is further increased with High Grain ammo, while Light Stock helps with movement and sprint speed.
Finally, you can select any close-range optic of your choice, such as the MK.23 reflector or the Slate reflector. I have left the fifth accessory slot empty, however, you can use the VT-7 Spirit Fire Suppressor muzzle to go unnoticed on radar when you fire the weapon.

Best Rival-9 Modern Warfare 3 Beta Loadout
- Laser: Sapphire-12 Laser
- Optical: MK.23 reflector
- under the canyon: XRK Edge BW-4 manual stop
- Magazine: Mag 40 round
- Back grip: Rival Assault Grab
Rival-9 has a higher rate of fire than Striker, but I’ve noticed that it performs a little worse than the latter when it comes to TTK. For this build, I suggest using the extended 40-round magazine to feed more bullets to the rapid-fire weapon. To increase the weapon’s mobility stats, equip the XRK Edge Handstop.
The Rival-9 SMG seems to have some horizontal recoil and to reduce this I have used Assault Grip. If you want even better recoil control, feel free to use the Bruen Heavy Support Grip instead of the Handstop for the underbarrel. Another great accessory is the Sapphire-12 laser, which improves your sprint speed to shoot and your aiming speed while jumping. But remember, it will give your weapon a visible hip laser that the enemy can easily detect.
