At the current World Cup, players from the Old World have completely lost the argument against their main competitors, the South Americans. Previously, in 8 regular meeting, the Europeans won only one win in regular-time matches with four defeats, gaining 25,0% of a possible number of points. This result can be a little improved by France. However, this will help to avoid the anti-record set in 1978 in Argentina, 23,1%.
Between the Europeans and South Americans, they were World Champions a year ago only as the best or at least equal performance had in the confrontation with them. The two exceptions to the rule were the 1938 World Cup, the Italy won, and the 2014 World Cup, where Germany excelled. The clubs dominated a half-term success outside their continent at the 2010 World Cup (Spain) and the 2014 World Cup. If France wins the competition for the final, Europeans will celebrate the 90th victory in battles with the South Americans. Argentina will be the 100th of the South American team in the clash with Europeans.
