The Game of the Year race is on, with the big three boasting their respective contenders. Nintendo has Tears of the Kingdom, Xbox has Starfield, and PlayStation has Spider-Man 2. Other titles are up for grabs, but in all likelihood, one of this brilliant trio will take the crown.
Just as Rocksteady breathed new life into the stagnant superhero genre with Arkham Asylum, Insomniac Games replicated the formula for Marvel’s Spider-Man in 2018. With OG being the best-selling PS4 game of all time, expectations are just as high for Spider. Main 2 to perform.
Xbox Fanboy Takes Court Over Spider-Man 2 Criticism
While most are excited to take on the New York City skyline once again, there is a vocal minority that has drawn superhero adventure to the console wars. Like the failed bid to bring Starfield to the PlayStation, Spider-Man haters are losing out on this tirade.
Posting on Twitter, streamer Darius Fears is going on a rhino-inspired rampage against Spider-Man 2 . Leaks claims that the main story of Spider-Man 2 will take about 15 hours to complete, with a modest 26 hours platinum. Couple that with Spider-Man 2’s $70 New Generation price tag, Fears is less than impressive.
Granted, Starfield is a reasonably big title that’s hoping to be another multi-year addition to the Bethesda family, but still, Spider-Man 2 looks great. Faires’ timeline is littered with pro-Starfield views and criticism of Spider-Man 2, which hasn’t gone unnoticed by his detractors.

Is it Starfield vs. Spider-Man?
Spider-Man 2 isn’t out yet, so it’s too early to say if it’ll be a Game of the Year contender. Let’s remember that while Starfield was widely praised as an ambitious game, it was far from perfect. Along with the usual Bethesda glitches, many agreed that it wasn’t the best looking game.
Conversely, Spider-Man 2 may lack the longevity of Starfield, but it seems to more than make up for it with graphical capabilities. Microsoft is often called out for its lack of Xbox exclusives, while the likes of Spider-Man 2 are one of the main reasons people bought the PS5.
Fear is jumping the gun with his Spider-Man 2 taunts. For many, it’s Kingdom Tears and Baldur’s Gate 3 that are the frontrunners for Game of the Year. None of that matters anyway because, in case you hadn’t noticed, Starfield and Spider-Man 2 are completely different games aimed at different audiences.
