When it comes to scouting for new characters, there’s a level of uncertainty that comes with the process. Blade is no exception to this problem. Is Blade F2P (free to play) supported? Is it worth the high cost to add it to your growing list? Is it a ‘must have’ in the realm of Honkai Star Rail? These are just some of the questions you’re probably asking yourself, but I know I have the answers you’re looking for. As someone who has won much of the Honkai Star Rail list, let me give you some peace of mind. This is whether or not you should grab Blade.

Is it worth pulling Blade on Honkai Star Rail?

The answer depends on the progression of your account. Blade is a 5* Wind Destruction character with a focus on HP (health points). He deals massive damage, but you must drain his own health to do so. Due to his focus on his HP, since he is an HP scaling character, he should always be built to have a large health pool. In my opinion, Blade is a safe and healthy pull for most accounts, especially those looking to carry.

My reasoning is multiple. First, he is a Destruction character. Destruction characters tend to be very versatile, being able to play Tank and DPS in the same role. A properly built Blade will focus on HP, which means it will have a lot of bulk if you need to use it to tank a strong enemy. For me, this is already invaluable, as the most difficult content in the game has a meta focus on the Speed stat at the moment. However, if Blade can soak up most of the first few turns of said content, due to its high HP, then I see it as having quite a bit of use.

Beyond tankiness, Blade’s DPS is also on the higher side of the spectrum. While he won’t outpace DPS monsters like Seele, he should try more than enough to destroy all of the current content Honkai Star Rail has to offer. Also, the biggest advantage of her is that she is very skill point friendly due to her empowered attacks. does not require skill points to cast.

The only negative is that Blade consumes significant amounts of his health to deal damage, so you’ll need a strong, well-rounded healer to sustain him. In my opinion, if you don’t have Bailu or Luocha, you should consider skipping Blade for a future banner. Personally, she would. Your healing requirements are really that much.

Is Blade a valuable addition to your account?

Again, this depends on the current status of your account. If you need a strong carry and have the heals to back up your negative, so Blade is very valuable. However, if you already have someone like Seele, Yanqing, or even Clara, then it’s probably best to save your valuable currency for a more useful character.

    Does Blade support F2P?

Blade’s gear and damage are already solid at E0. However, Blade’s Eidolons add a significant amount of sustain and damage to his team. Most of those boosts come from her E4 and E6, which are largely unobtainable by F2P players.

Also, because Blade scales the HP stat, it’s pretty easy to build. Getting the HP stat on gear tends to be more common than ATK. However, you will still need Crit and Crit Damage to do your job.

Overall I would say Blade is below average on the F2P compatible checklist. It makes so much from its Eidolons that despite its favorable scaling, I don’t feel too good about recommending people drop it. Still, if you really like Blade and still want decent transportation, he manages to be just that.

Is Blade a must have character?

I don’t think Blade is a must-have character by any metric. It is a nice addition to any account. It fills a niche role that can be useful in certain specific situations. It is very versatile and fits into most team compositions. Ultimately, though, he’s a DPS character, and in Gacha games, DPS characters are always the first to feel the power. If you like it, feel free to throw it away, but you should know that there will probably be better characters in the not too distant future for Honaki Star Rail.
