Remnant 2 features a slew of interesting and powerful weapons that you’ll need to best some of the game’s most difficult encounters. However, not all weapons are made equal, and many are purely for specialization to see results. There must always be a set of the best the game has to offer. After beating the game on Nightmare difficulty, I am certain to be most qualified to provide you with a sort of tier list for the top tier. Here are the best weapons in Remnant 2, and how to get them.

Weapon Tier List for Remnant 2

    Tier Weapons
    S Enigma, Aphelion
A Deceit, Hellfire, Twisted Arbalest, Nightfall
B Crossbow, Cube Gun, Alpha/Omega, Royal Hunting Bow
    C Sagittarius

The weapons on this list are the best of the best Remnant 2 has to offer. While there are plenty of others in-game, many that aren’t included can excel with a build tailored around them. Now, let’s talk about each one for clarity.

    S Tier

    Enigma

Enigma is a weapon that works well with any build and offers a ton, all-in-one little package. Between its incredible ammo efficiency, strong AOE potential, decent single-target damage, and elemental damage profile, Enigma sits at the top of the list for the strongest weapon in Remnant 2.

Enigma can be obtained from the Labrignth, behind one of the five potential locations the main portal can take you to. You’ll need to obtain the Cipher Rod from here and take it back to Ward 13 to be crafted into the weapon.

    Aphelion

Aphelion is a monstrous powerful Longgun with incredible damage and a mod that allows it to apply the Burn status in a large area very easily. I put it high on this list due to all the different synegies this thing offers through your rings and amulets. One of my personal favorites is using the Detonation Trigger amulet with Supernova, the weapon’s Mod, which applies a second stack of Burning status when it explodes. Potent stuff.

Aphelion is obtained by killing Sha’Hala: Spectral Guardian of N’Erud using the alternative method which requires the Override Pin quest item, also from N’Erud. Note that you can kill Sha’Hala without the Override Pin, but it will result in a different reward.

    A Tier

    Deceit

This incredibly powerful Longgun sports the highest base damage of all Longguns in Remnant 2. It packs a heavy punch making it a very strong burst weapon for those situations that require it. The weapon’s mod, Ouroboros is the real star of the show, however. It allows every shot from Deceit to be considered a weak spot for a short time, further enhancing it’s burst damage. The only real downside of Deceit is its high Mod Power cost, which is 1440. This amount will be difficult to charge if your build isn’t focused on Mod Power generation.

Deceit is obtained by defeating Faelin and obtaining his Imposter’s Heart. Take this back to Ward 13, and you can craft the weapon.

    Hellfire

Remnant’s take on your typical flamethrower, only it has a powerful grenade launcher attached to it. For builds that focus on Fire or Burning damage, Hellfire is one of the best, if not the best, Handgun weapons in the whole game. While it does not deal that much damage initially, this is heavily offset by its high burn damage. Additionally, the grenade launcher I mentioned deals enourmous burst damage in a large area. It is also easy to recharge if you have any decent Mod Power generation in your build, allowing for repeated use.

Hellfire is obtained during the last area of the game, Root Earth. When you begin, you’ll be near a large overpass that is rundown via the Root. Find your way up the nearby root that leads to the top of the overpass. From there, look down. You should see a purple item somewhere close by. Jump down to it and pick it up. Hellfire is now yours.

    Twisted Arbalest

Upon first use, the Twisted Arbalest seems kind of weak. However, the weapon is extremely strong due to its ability to ricochet off of practically anything, hitting targets you can’t even see, accidentally, and with the force of a small rocket. If that wasn’t enough, when you hit a target with its potent disk, they become marked. The weapon’s mod, Guardian’s Call, allows you to detonate each active mark for heavy damage. Due to its moderate Mod Power cost, this can be done consistently with decent Mod Power generation in your build.

Twisted Arbalest can be obtained from the Corrupter boss encounter. You must defeat the Corrupter while its Guardian is destroyed. Once done, return to Ward 13 for your reward.

    Nightfall

Nightfall is a fully automatic Longgun that shreds enemies in its line of sight. While this is the case for most of the weapons on this list, Nightfall’s biggest advantage lies with its intrinsic Mod, Dreamwalker. Dreamwalker turns Nightfall into a fully-automatic SMG with infinite ammo and life steal. The most unique part is that it makes you much harder to hit while moving. It is a DPS monster that should not be ignored by those looking to min-max.

Nightfall is obtained by defeating the Nightweaver. Take the dropped material back to Ward 13, and have it crafted.

    B Tier

    Crossbow

The Crossbow is Remnant 2 is a standard weapon that allows for mod customization. It’s greatest asset, however, is its high single-target damage. The Crossbow fires one shot, but scales very well with Reload speed stats, allowing for faster follow-up shots. Depending on your build, this weapon can be mediocre or extremely strong.

The Crossbow is obtained via the completion of the Imperial Gardens Symbol Puzzle on Yaesha. Imperial Gardens is one of the region’s side dungeons, so you may need to reroll your adventure or campaign if you do not have it available.

    Cube Gun

The Cube Gun is a usual weapon that has infinite ammo so long as you “catch’ the rounds when they return to the gun. Most important is its ability to generate a sort of Cube Shield, the name of the weapon’s mod, which absorbs damage for you. Reactivating it fires a large cube that deals damage to enemies that come in contact with it. It’s a neat little gun that has some uses if you build around its shielding strength.

The Cube Gun can be obtained by defeating the Labyrinth Sentinel boss encounter. Take the dropped material back to Ward 13 and have it made for you.

    Alpha/Omega

This weapon is functionally a burst-fire assault rifle that increases in fire rate the longer it remains firing. It does high sustain damage and has a potentially powerful Mod that works similarly to the Twisted Arbalest’s. However, where this thing falls short is during the initial firing time. It is required to briefly charge up before firing off a burst, which is incredibly detrimental in high-speed encounters. This is the only reason I place it so low on this list. However, it is still very strong when used under the conditions that favor it, which are slow-paced, long-distance fights.

Alpha/Omega can be obtained by defeating Remnant 2’s final boss, Annilaiation. Take the material back to Ward 13, and have it made for you after the end credits.

    Royal Hunting Bow

The Royal Hunting Bow is the only known bow in the game that allows you to customize its Mod slot. Like the Crossbow, it fires single, high-damage shots that excel at dealing weak point damage. It does less damage than the Crossbow, but also can fire a follow-up shot much more quickly due to arrows being notched rather than loaded via bolts. A solid weapon that is versatile for many different builds. It is my personal favorite.

The Royal Hunting Bow can be obtained by completing the puzzle located in the Postulant’s Palor. Postulant’s Palor is a side dungeon located in the Losomn region. If you do not have access to it, reload your campaign or adventure until you do.

    C Tier

    Sagittarius

The final weapon on this list, Sagittarius is a unique bow that functions identically to the Royal Hunting Bow. However, it does come with its own intrinsic Mod called Starfall. This mod opens a portal above the location you hit with it active. Magic bolts rain down from the sky, dealing damage to anything within its radius. Starfall by itself is mediocre, but it does have some interesting interactions with some of your accessories. For example, Starfall’s bolts are considered explosives, meaning that Detonation Trigger does work it.

Sagittarius can be obtained by completing the Cathedral of Omen puzzle on Yaesha. The Cathedral of Omen is a side location, meaning it may not be available to you until you reroll your adventure or campaign.
