Crafting can be a fun part of MMORPG Old School RuneScape (OSRS). It’s a great way to enjoy some downtime, as well as a nice way to earn some money on the side of your adventuring exploits. At higher levels, fishing is one of the most profitable crafting skills in the game. You can make a lot of money from Dark Crabs and Sharks, but leveling up to be able to fish for them isn’t easy, especially if you’re not a paying subscriber. Read our full OSRS F2P Fishing Guide for levels one through 99 below.

Where to train to fish in free-to-play in Old School RuneScape

When you start out, you can quickly outgrow the skill. levels one to 20 fishing Shrimp Y anchovies on the river south of lumbridge (1, top) and south of Draynor (2, above). All you need is a small net, which you’ll get during the new player tutorial. Net fishing can be done AFK, but only until the fishing spot is moved.

Once you get to level 20 you can move on to Trout and Salmon. This requires Pens and a fly fishing rod. Rod (and subsequent fishing items) can be purchased from the fishing shop in Port Sarim (3, above), while feathers can be looted from all birds, including all types of chicken. This will get you out of fishing level 20 to 40 and you can fish in the same two places. You’ll just get better fish by using better gear and being higher level (trout from level 20, then also random salmon from level 30).

If you are happy to continue fly fishing for trout and salmon you can do this all the way up to level 99. However, it is more profitable to switch to capture Locust a muse point (4, bottom) or corsair cove (5, bottom) using Lobster Casseroles of levels 40 to 50after Tuna Y Swordfish using a Harpoon at Musa Point from levels 50 to 99. Note that traveling to Musa Point will cost you 60 for each return trip, while you will need to have completed the dragon slayer i quest to access Corsair Cove.
