With Modern Warfare 3 releasing in November 2023, special editions of the game are starting to be pre-ordered.

The special edition that’s gotten the most attention online is the Walmart-exclusive Limited Collector’s Box, though it’s not necessarily getting positive press.

Walmart has released a special Modern Warfare 3 Collector’s Edition.

Several special editions of Modern Warfare 3 are available for pre-order, including the Vault Edition ($99.99) and Console Cross-Gen and PC Digital Editions ($69.99).

The Walmart-exclusive Limited Collector’s Box is another edition that avid gamers can get their hands on, however, it comes with a few caveats.

The first major sticking point for many Modern Warfare fans is the high price tag, at $149.

    For the price, players receive:

    • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III game
    • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Collector’s Box
    • Case with game disc
    • Bronze-washed resin wall plaque featuring Ghost.
    • Zombie Night Vision Metallic Poster
    • Set of eight enamel collector pins
    • Set of four special edition lithographs
    • Special assembly retail box packaging

There’s another issue with the edition that has some fans wondering if it’s worth it or not. A copy of the game will not be packaged in a box when shipped, meaning players will not receive the game and box as one package.

Modern Warfare fans aren’t impressed with the Walmart edition.

Modern Warfare 3 fans aren’t swayed by the price of the box, the contents, or the fact that the Collector’s Edition box itself won’t contain the game.

One Twitter user wrote: “This looks like a loot box subscription not a collector’s edition”.

Similarly, another commenter said: “They just added a bunch of stuff from Aliexpress and called it the Collector’s Edition.”

Not everyone is excited about the box, however, as some fans are excited about the inclusion of zombie merchandise.

One Twitter user said: “OG zombie perks and ray guns? Ok, now I’m excited!”

While this is a more expensive bundle, it will likely appeal to collectors of Call of Duty merchandise who want access to just the game from their pre-order. While it’s not for everyone, the Walmart Collector’s Edition will probably find its audience sooner rather than later.
