There are many different classes to pick up and play in BG3. Whether you want to be a demonic spellslinger or an oathbound sword and board, there is a class tailored for every type of player. However, BG3’s character creation process can be a little vague about what each class really does, especially when it comes to the more exotic classes like the pillar of entertainment, the Bard. Due to way the way Bard is detailed, you may find yourself questioning their supportive value when classes like the Cleric exists. If this is you, then you’ve come to the right place for answers. Is the Bard class worth your time? Keep reading and find out.

Is Bard class good in BG3?

To answer the question as clearly as possible, Bards are an amazing class in BG3. The biggest reason is due to their versatility. You see, while Bards are primarily supportive spellcasters, favoring buffs through their magical music, they truly excel at being a jack-of-all-trades. Many of Bard’s spells can be found in the spell list of pretty much every other spellcaster in the game. An example of this is their access to the iconic Fireball spell, despite being a support class.

Bards function as a solid backbone to an already functional party. Their buffs are game changers in most cases, improving Attack Bonuses and Saving Throws through their wide variety of spells. Their jack-of-all-trades nature also extends to martial affairs, as they are able to wield some weapons to solid effect. The Bard even has access to a subclass with a stronger focus on martial prowess called the Sword Bard, to put my meaning into perspective.

With all that said, if you’re looking to play a Bard in BG3, rest assured that will be the reason your party wins some of the game’s harder encounters. Bards are just never a waste to have in a group, so go wild building one up. Just remember that support is your main role, and you’ll do just fine.
