The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) named the best playmaker in 2022. He was recognized by the Argentina National Team and the French PSG Lionel Messi.
The 35-year-old star forward received 170 points in the vote. Croatian bronze medalist Luka Modric takes the 2022 World Cup second, while Belgian Kevin De Bruyne is in the top three.
Note that in 2020 and 2021, De Bruyne received this award. Interestingly, Modric was the winner of the Best Playmaker award in 2018 from the IFFHS, and the award for Messi in 2022 was already fourth.
