What is the Book of Shadows?
The Book of Shadows is an essential tool that Gather and compile information on everything from slain enemies and bosses to unlocked weapons and Melinoë’s relationship status with different characters. Each time she defeats a new enemy, or when Melinoë advances in the story, she adds more information to the Book of Shadows, providing detailed insight into her journey and the world around her.
How to unlock it in Hades 2
To officially unlock the Book of Shadows, you must Defeat Hecate Hecate at least 3 times at the end of Erebus.. The fight itself is fairly simple with just a few mechanics, as Hecate uses it to test Melinoë’s strength in the face of the dangers ahead. Upon defeating her for the third time, the Book of Shadows will become a permanent part of Melinoë’s inventory and will also conclude the List of ‘Guardian of Shadows’ destinations task.
From there, every time new information is added, the book symbol will appear at the bottom of the screen, so be sure to check it periodically.
How to expand the Book of Shadows
The Book of Shadows can also be expanded by inventing certain enchantments that are unlocked in Crossroads Cauldron. Currently they include:
- The empath’s intuition – Update the Book of Shadows to convey information about the progress of the relationship with each character.
This incantation allows Melinoë to check the status of her relationship with everyone she has met so far. Provide nectar gifts is a guaranteed method of improving those relationships with all the gods and goddesses of Hades 2.
