How to make Macarons in Palia & complete The Great Human Bake-off quest

The Great Human Bake-off is an optional hidden quest in Palia, in which you’ll need to find out how to make Macarons – so here’s where you can find it.

More hidden quests have been added to Palia since the 0.166 update, which also added pets and new premium shop items.

As such, the Macarons recipe is just one of many cooking recipes in the game you’ll need to uncover to unlock them all.

Where to pick up The Great Human Bake-off quest

To collect the hidden quest, The Great Human Bake-off, you must travel to the Flooded Steps, north of the Flooded Fortress on the Bahari Bay map and follow these steps:

• There will be a glowing dig spot at the base of the Flooded Steps, directly opposite Tamala’s house.
• Once there, dig in the spot and you’ll unearth the ‘Very Old… Grocery List?’
• Once you collect it, read it within your inventory to start The Great Human Bake-off quest.

The Great Human Bake-off quest: Who to ask about the recipe

Once you have collected the Very Old Grocery List, you’ll be tasked with asking around town for anyone familiar with it. Ask Hekla, who will inform you that the document is an ancient recipe for Macarons, which is a Majiri delicacy.

Macaron recipe in Palia: All ingredients

To make Macarons in Palia, you’ll need the following ingredients:

• Milk
• Flour
• Egg
• Sweet Leaf

The first three ingredients can all be purchased from Zeki at the General Store in Kilima, but they will sometimes be given as quest rewards.

Sweet Leaf is a Spice that can be foraged in Bahari Bay. Common spawn points are near the Statue Garden, Thorny Thicket, the Outskirts, Proudhorn Pass, Flooded Steps, and Ancient Aqueduct.

How to make Macarons in Palia

Once you have the ingredients, you will need two Mixing Stations to make Macarons. The Mixing Station is a crafter recipe you can unlock from Reth after achieving cooking level three.

First, you need to make Ground Sweet Leaf at one of the Mixing Stations, from regular Sweet Leaf.

Then, mix the Ground Sweet Leaf with Milk, Flour and an Egg to make Macarons at the second station. Now, return to Hekla for your quest XP reward.
