It’s a good idea to know how to Disarm traps in Baldur’s Gate 3, as they can be a massive pain when adventuring, and one wrong step can quickly see your entire party die.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is the closest Dungeons & Dragons experience you can get in gaming, including dice rolls, with all the critical successes and failures that come with them. There are some things you never want to get a critical failure on in the game, such as Disarming traps, but how exactly do you do it? Check out our primer below for Disarming traps in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Disarming traps in Baldur’s Gate 3 is an easy process of just selecting the trap with your mouse and either clicking the left mouse button, or right-clicking and selecting ‘Disarm’ from the context menu.

However, you will need at least one Trap Disarm Toolkit, which is a single item used to safely Disarm a trap, and you’ll need to pass a Sleight of Hand check to successfully Disarm.

You’ll also have to actually see a trap and know it’s there before you have any chance of disarming it and moving on safely.

Whenever a trap is nearby in Baldur’s Gate 3, all the characters in your party will roll a Perception check. If all the characters fail, then the trap isn’t revealed, but if at least one person passes, then the trap is revealed and will glow orange for a short period.

As long as a trap is revealed, you’ll be able to select it and Disarm it safely (providing you meet the criteria mentioned above). If you’ve detected a trap – when moving – you and your party will also automatically avoid it as long as you don’t move directly on top of it.

Most traps will be present in smaller underground locations, like crypts and tombs, so it’s always worth being extra cautious in those locations as they are frequent. Obviously, traps can appear elsewhere, but they are less common.

That’s all for our primer on how to Disarm traps in Baldur’s Gate 3, and now you know what it takes to locate them, and how you can safely disarm them to carry on your adventures.
