At the start of Sea of Thieves, you select a pirate before you can set sail. Once you do, you can customize some of their appearance, but mainly the clothes and accessories they wear. If you are not satisfied with the appearance of your pirate, you may be wondering if you can change your pirate in Sea of Thieves.
How to change pirate in Sea of Thieves
There are two ways to change your pirate in Sea of Thieves. One requires real money or ancient coins, or you just delete your pirate and start from scratch. Here’s how to change your character in Sea of Thieves.

- Go to the Pirate Emporium.
- navigate to Pirate eyelash.
- find the pirate appearance potion.
- Buy the potion.
- close and Resume sea of thieves
- Select your new pirate.
Once you’ve purchased the potion, you can continue to close and reopen Sea of Thieves to refresh your pirate selection. We recommend sticking with it until you find one you like; otherwise you will have to pay old money or coins again to change your character. Alternatively, you can go to settings and erase your pirate in the pirate profile tab, but this will delete all progress.
Should you change your character in Sea of Thieves?
Ultimately this is up to you. If you decide to change your character to a new pirate, we recommend using the Pirate Appearance Potion so that you can maintain your progress. If you are just starting out and have nothing to lose but want a different pirate, then you can use the remove pirate option. Consider what cosmetics and progress you have made before changing your pirate.
