If you’re exploring Vanaheim Crater in God of War Ragnarök and aren’t sure what you need to do to “lure the dragon” in The Jungle, this guide is for you. The Path of Destruction Favor doesn’t give you much direction. There’s no real direction for you to go, just a puzzling wooden cage and an elevator. We can help you solve the problem and take down another dragon once and for all. Here is how to do it.
How to complete Path of Destruction Favor in God of War Ragnarök
To start this quest, you will first need to have defeated the Ogre that throws rocks at you. You’ll also need to make sure it’s daytime in Vanaheim, or visit a Celestial Altar to change the time to day. The grappling point you need to cross the river from Ogre Island will not appear at night.
To start this quest, knock down the rocks with your Blades of Chaos on the west side of Ogre’s island to reach the river crossing point. Go ahead and you’ll see the Summer Stag from A Stag for all Seasons Favor. Turn north and cross the gap. Keep following the poisonous vines in this area until you reach the root and burn it.

Then you’ll want to find this white mark on the crumbling wall to the far west. Interact with it to crawl around a tight corner into an open area where a drake has been feeding. The hole in the center of the area is where you will go next. Find the white markings on the side for the point to jump in.
Once inside, you’re trapped! It’s a prank. Turn around to see a gear behind you with a wooden panel on top of it. You will have to be quick for the next part. Throw your Leviathan ax next to the white painted panel. This will raise the cage. Then quickly retrieve the ax and throw it at the gear to freeze it and prevent the cage from falling back down. Leave your ax in the gear, you will need to raise the cage first for the next part.

Get out of the trap (grabbing the legendary chest on your way) to find some small enemies. Don’t fight them. Instead, it slowly returns to the wooden cage, drawing the beasts into it. Once they’re in and you’re safely out, recall your ax to catch them. If you miss or had to kill the enemies before they killed you, don’t worry. They will respawn where you first found them. Once you’ve caught them, use the silver chain to lead them to the dragon feeding ground. This will attract the dragon and you just have to go back to the feeding area to fight.
How to kill the Staghorn in God of War Ragnarök
The dragon you must defeat is Slag Horn. His fight shares many of the same mechanics with Crag Jaw, a Drake that you can find in The Sinkholes. The key in this battle is to take advantage of the yellow and cracked weak spots on his front legs. Throw your Draupnir Spear at the points using L2 + R1. They will turn red if hit successfully. After placing the spear, press Triangle to detonate the spear and greatly increase Slag Horn’s stun gauge. Once stunned, Slag Horn will fall to the ground and you will be able to deal a lot of damage to its exposed underside. Fighting at long range will be an advantage here, as up close his attacks will be difficult to parry or dodge.
