In a surprising revelation, a Battlefield-inspired shooter title is currently dominating Steam, and it’s absolutely adorable.
Not only is BattleBit Remastered’s art style incredibly cute, but it’s amazing to see a title run by a small team of passionate developers the way it deserves, with shooter action gripping players everywhere.
It’s deeply healthy, and frankly, we couldn’t be happier for the team. But, as players begin to seriously invest, Davis is having to put his foot down.
BattleBit Remastered won’t be getting shotguns.
In a brand new AMA on the PC Gaming subreddit, the team behind BattleBit Remastered has been sharing some behind-the-scenes tidbits with fans, and it’s confirmed in a very short and powerful way.
“Amazing game!” A fan’s comment on the AMA post. “Having a blast. Not sure if this has been covered, but do you want to add shotguns to the game at some point?” they ask.
It doesn’t take long for one of the game’s developers, TheLiquidHorse, to offer a short, sharp response. “No shotguns,” he says. Damn, well, that’s it, we guess.
Why is BattleBit Remastered insisting on no shotgun?
While fans don’t seem to have been given a reason for the lack of shots in BattleBit Remastered, Prima Games has pointed out that TrueDevil, a mod in the game’s Discord, has offered some insight.
“Shotguns in games have the potential to be either overpowered, or underpowered,” he says. “As you mentioned, they are very difficult to balance, so, Deus decided not to include them.” You only have to look at the disturbing meta of something like Warzone to see that it’s a minefield.
That’s fair enough, and we won’t pretend to understand the effort that goes into balancing weapons in a game like this, so it’s a fact we’ll just have to accept. While many players have hailed the short giant as a “legend” for his reaction, we doubt most feel like they’re missing out.
