The Canadian government recently financated a full modding of the old Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel. Although there’s still nothing unprecedented in government funding any video game project, many unique features of the anarchist Nous Aurons are set apart, and even in the niche category, arguably.

Even though Fallout has always been a co-founder of community-created projects, many of its varied mods aren’t as weird on the surface as Nous Aurons. The mod was created by Hugo Nadeau, but in 2017, a funding had only recently been approved. Hence, it has morphed out in the past, so it’s slowly disappearing.

Despite the fact that more than 170 games are added, more than 180,000 games are being added. This modder tried to use Fallout Tactics as a platform for anarchist post-apocalyptic society. The Canadian government finally agreed to pay the budget but quickly failed to get the money back. Speaking to Kotaku, Nadeau explained that the government of the province was well aware of the mods opposed to government sentiment, but design is approved by the artist council and not by the government representative.

Though it’s unclear what to expect from Bethesda in 2023 other than games like Starfield and Redfall, it’s obviously true that a deeply anarchist exploration of a post-apocalyptic society isn’t all that likely. That makes the Nado project even more interesting, as it stands out no matter what point of view it is viewed. Is he able to receive funds from the Quebec and Canada Council for Arts & Letters and the Canada Council for the Arts Particularly impressive?
