The data mining companies responsible for starting all the plans for Destiny 2 have shut down the claims.

While the game is free to play, Destiny 2 makes money on expansions, season passes and cosmetics. To this day, however, a rumour spread spread out that Bungie will integrate an additional monetisation with subscription plans.

Dataminers from D2 Datamines found evidence in Destiny 2s’s files of these subscription plans. They wouldn’t have known how much they cost, but they would have access to the upcoming Lightfall expansion and a wide range of other content.

Although, it appears that no one was so true that Destiny 2, offering no subscription service, was denied. Not by Bungie, but by data-miners who said it was happening in the first place.

In the event that the dataminers in question admitted they were innocent, their findings were only a joke intended to fool people.

However, their joke spread beyond Discord, so they decided to be upfront before something escalated, and they apologised for spreading misinformation.

We sincerely regret that we didn’t let this happen, but since it grew really large, people are in fact getting a lot worried outside the server and said that we only wanted to apologize and to let everyone know that we trolled everybody, writes a statement posted on Twitter, courtesy of an information-mining group of his friends.

DTR has never reported this news, since it seems to be very false.

They claim that the joke wasn’t made with any malicious intent, and pledge that all future joke posts will be labelled as such so that it doesn’t matter how it’s going to happen again.

The fact that the news will be relying on those who hated Destiny 2, but are not sure the consequences of that and the idea of getting subscription plans for it, has certainly ruined the reputation of the dataminers.

They have been a reliable source of information for Destiny 2 and that is why so many were ready to believe the discovery they’ve already made in the first place.

For the official Destiny 2-related info, the Lightfall expansion is scheduled for February 28th and will introduce a new character subclass, which comes with a grappling hook.

Lightfall is the last chapter of the game’s All Over The Sky game. After this and the subsequent expansion, The Final Shape, Destiny 2 will move on to a new story, but this isn’t as good as the details.

Destiny 2 is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
