Call of Duty will return to the Xbox Showcase on June 9, preparing to reveal the franchise’s newest entry. Some fans are working hard searching the media for even the slightest hint; others are already detailing their hopes and dreams for the next revelation.
Reddit user AngryJames907 took to the Call of Duty subreddit to ask the community which game was first on their wish list for the upcoming June 9 reveal. They began the conversation by listing some of the most requested games in the franchise.
- Call of Duty: Gulf War
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 1/2 Remastered
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 campaign remastered
- Call of Duty: World War I
Community members quickly removed their wishlist. AngryAssyrian immediately jumped into the conversation saying, “Gulf War or Black Ops 2 remastered, I don’t want to see another Infinity Ward game for a while.” A large majority of fans approved of this comment and agreed that the community has seen too much of IW for the moment.
Treyarch is expected to lead the next entry in the series and I can’t wait to experience what they’ve been cooking up. Black Ops 4 may have been a big mistake for fans, but the developer still has the community’s goodwill to develop Black Ops Cold War.
User Rizlxr interrupted the conversation with one of the most requested remasters of the franchise: Call of Duty Black Ops 1 and 2, saying: “BO1/2 Remastered. The best cod ever created.” It’s been over 12 years since those masterpieces were released and fans still remember that golden era, wishing they could go back to those late night gaming sessions.
Not all community responses gush about their favorite CoD. User jmh0403 wrote a comment that made me laugh: “Thank you for using the highest quality images you could find.”
Even in a discussion about hopes and wish lists, there are some in the community who have lost all love for developers. User Dylan_The_Great gave a realistic view, saying: “Just give me the remaster. I don’t trust any of these developers to create something decent anymore.”
I’d love to recapture those glory days in Black Ops 1/2, but I wouldn’t hate an exploration of the Gulf War with down-to-earth gameplay. We’ll have to wait and see what Treyarch is cooking up and whether or not the community is right with their guesses.
