Sorcerers can be some of the most powerful spellcasters in Baldur’s Gate 3. Sorcerers can use their magical talents in the form of metamagic to gain additional spellcasting abilities. The class also includes three subclasses that further increase a Sorcerer’s abilities.

I have fun with any Sorcerer subclass, but some of the subclass’s abilities are more powerful than others. The Sorcerer subclasses are classified here.

    3. Wild magic

Wild Magic may be one of the most fun subclasses in the game, but the main abilities can be extremely beneficial or detrimental to your party. The Wild Magic abilities Tides of Chaos, Bend Luck, and Controlled Chaos are powerful, but they’re not exactly on par with the other subclasses.

These are the abilities you will unlock by choosing the Wild Magic Sorcerer subclass:

    Level Ability Description
1 Tides of Chaos Activate it to gain advantage on your next attack roll, skill check, or saving throw.
1 wild magic When casting a spell of 1st level or higher, there is a chance for a random effect to occur in addition to the spell’s effects.
6 double the luck When a creature you can see makes an attack roll, skill check, or saving throw, you can use your reaction and spend 2 sorcery points to roll 1d4, applying the number rolled as a bonus or penalty to the creature’s roll. .
eleven controlled chaos Enemies can be hit by a surge of wild magic while casting spells near your fluctuating magic.

    2. Storm Sorcery

Storm Sorcery is a powerful subclass from the start, especially since the subclass unlocks the ability to Fly as a bonus action after casting a spell. The other skills focus on dealing thunder or lightning damage and also grant resistance to those types of damage. Storm Sorcery is a great option for sorcerers who want to be mobile and wield the power of lightning and thunder.

These are the abilities you unlock by choosing the Storm Sorcery subclass:

    Level Ability Description
1 Storm Magic After casting a Level 1 or higher spell, you can Fly as a bonus action until the end of your turn without receiving Opportunity Attacks.
6 Heart of the storm When you cast a Level 1 or higher spell that deals Lightning or Thunder damage, you cause a small local storm. All enemies within 6m take 3 Lightning or Thunder damage.
6 Heart of the storm: resistance You are resistant to lightning and thunder damage.
6 storm spells Learn Thunder Wave, Create or Destroy Water, Gust of Wind, Sleet Storm, or Call Lightning.
eleven Fury of the storm When hit by a melee attack, you deal Lightning damage to the attacker and have a chance to knock them away.

    1. Draconic lineage

Draconic Bloodline is the best Sorcerer subclass because its abilities scale very well, including gaining additional health at each level, gaining a resistance of your choice, and the highest AC without armor. The Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer can gain extremely powerful spells while also being able to take damage and stay in the fight.

These are the abilities you unlock by choosing the Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer subclass:

    Level Ability Description
1 Draconic Resilience Dragon-like scales cover parts of your skin. When you are not wearing armor, your base armor class is 13 and your maximum hit points increase by 1 for each sorcerer level.
1 Draconic Ancestry Grants resistance to the damage type of your choice along with an additional spell.
6 Elemental Affinity: Damage When you cast a spell that deals damage of the type associated with your draconic ancestry, you add your Charisma modifier to the damage.
6 Elemental Affinity: Resistance When you cast a spell that deals damage of the type associated with your draconic ancestry, you can spend 1 sorcery point to gain resistance to that type of damage.
eleven Fly You can now fly at will using your movement speed.
