We know what you’ll think when we say”A new Elder Scrolls game has been launched. Is there a new mod for an old game? Have I missed something? Is it still coming to Xbox?

These are all fair questions, but even though there’s a lot of confusion out there, we mean it when we say a new Elder Scrolls game has sprung up overnight. You’d think Bethesda would be more than willing to gaslight the franchise, but there’s clearly nothing wrong with that. The Elder Scrolls: Castles are yours now.

    Elder Scrolls Castles started overnight.

In a huge shocker, an official Elder Scrolls title launched while we were all asleep, and it’s playable right now. We’re sure you’ll agree that it looks familiar.

The Elder Scrolls: Castles has launched on Android, and is a simulation title that lets you build and staff your own castle in which kings make difficult decisions and send their subjects on dangerous quests.

While this came as a shock to many, some players saw this coming – the FTC v. Microsoft trial revealed three projects, the third of which was codenamed Project Whirlwind. Some believe that this is the same game, which serves as the skill and spell category in The Elder Scrolls.

The new Elder Scrolls game is basically Fallout Shelter.

We’re sure you’ll agree that the game’s format looks very familiar, hinting at the design of Fallout Shelter, Bethesda’s last (and quite successful) mobile title. The art style may be different, but in terms of gameplay and texture, it’s practically the same.

It might sound familiar, but hey, we sure don’t take it for granted. With Elder Scrolls 6 possibly still years away – and no one sure if the Oblivion remake is real – The Elder Scrolls: Castles gives us something to do. Looks like now is the time to waste your money on loot boxes.
