How to Counter Magnezone in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Magnezone has very high Defense but its Special Defense is a bit weaker. Hitting him on the special side will usually be faster, but he also has access to light screen, which will halve the damage from special moves. If found in the wild, it will tend to have a Steel- and Electric-type move, making Water-, Ice-, Rock-, Flying-, and Fairy-type Pokemon all combine horribly. In most situations, the best counter will be any of the best Ground-type Pokemon in the game.
pokemon like Garchomp, hydreigon, gastrodon, Torkoal, or any Electric or Fire-type will be able to stack Magnezone’s hits without much trouble. Earth Power or Earthquake will almost certainly take out Magnezone if it doesn’t have Sturdy or the move Magnet Rise. Fighting-type Pokémon with Drain Punch will also be able to deal damage and recover their health at the same time.
