Donphan has seen a lot of love in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. The Paldea region is home to two Paradox Pokémon, Great Tusk and Iron Threads, both of which are modeled after the Ground-type Pokémon. Donphan is a pure land type Pokemon, which means it has the traditional weaknesses you’d expect. But you’ll need to be careful, as Donphan has fantastic coverage moves that can potentially counter all of its weaknesses. Here are all of Donphan’s weaknesses in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

How to Counter Donphan in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
Donphan’s Ground-type only gives it three weaknesses, all of which it has coverage moves for. This makes challenging Donphan tricky, especially considering his big attack, DefendingY HP. His speed is low and he has good special defense, which means you’re going to want a special attacker to take this thing down.
We recommend a strong, bulky special attacker like Slowbro, Arboliva or Glaceon. These Pokemon can take hits from Donphan and return in kind. Since they have a higher Defense than Donphan’s Special Defense, you should be able to get his health down before he takes out your Pokemon.
