Over 300 workers vote for unionization.
ZeniMax Media is a QA firm who voted for a union within its offices. Within the company’s gaming division the 366 workers sought unionization in the recently held ballot, overseen by the Communication Workers of the United States (CPWA).
ZeniMax Workers United was officially recognized by Microsoft in June 2022, where the union regulator approved a proposed union action in return for Microsoft. Therefore, the eu were no resisting, nor coerced in the motion by the ZeniMax teams motion. The ZWU is now the largest union in the global games industry.
Microsoft has been faithful to its commitment to its workers and let them decide themselves if they want a union, said Chris Shelton in a statement made by the CWA. Other video game and tech giants decided to attack, undermine, and demoralize their employees when they get together to form a union. Microsoft has a new path which will enhance its corporate culture and its ability to serve its customers. It will serve as a model for the industry and a blueprint for the regulators.
We recognize the Communications Workers of America representative and Quality Assurance employees at ZeniMax, a spokeswoman for Microsoft of the vote. We look forward to negotiating with good faith as we try to negotiate a collective bargaining agreement.
Zenimax Workers United is the third group formed in the past 12 months in an AAA developer agreement. As of late in November, the Blizzard Albanys QA department has voted to unionize, despite the steady blow from the management. In May 2022, the Raven Softwares QA department also sought the unionization, eventually forming the Game Workers Alliance. Other studios, like the latest Activision acquisition Proletariat, on their own plans, have also indicated their intention to open union talks.
