While the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC continues to criticize the game for difficulty and performance issues (nothing new in FromSoftware games) on Steam and keeping it in mixed review status, other parts of the internet are praising it, showing that there is more for this image of what it might look like.

The main complaint from most is that its difficulty is very high compared to the base game. While it’s well known by many that FromSoftware’s DLCs are more difficult than the initial title (especially the bosses), given how much more popular Elden Ring is compared to the studio’s previous games, it’s safe to say that this is a shock to most (even more so considering that Elden Ring tends to be easier than its predecessors due to the open world). However, high difficulty or not, it does not prevent the most skilled players from performing hitless races.balance adjustments made since launch should help those struggling and possibly user opinions. For now we wait.)

On the other side of the fence, one The Reddit user said Responding to a popular post praising the DLC content, he says it has: ”More map density, more verticality, less huge mile-long plains and themed dungeons; “You couldn’t ask for more in an Elden Ring DLC.” Another comments: “It’s really amazing once you get used to it.”

It’s no lie that Shadow of the Erdtree is FromSoftware’s biggest DLC to date with its massive map and wide variety of bosses to take down and dungeons to explore. Additionally, the world and sound design are different from the base game, making it feel like a completely new title, while the different environments feel like worlds of their own. That also extends to the aesthetics of the environments, so praise for how beautiful the game is is flooding social media.

Twitter is awash with players admiring the beauty of FromSoftware’s biggest DLC and posting hard-won screenshots of their gameplay. Faisal captured some incredible moments that show the artistic vision the developers had when creating this new land.

Alyssa Mercante hopped on Twitter to express her admiration for the beauty of Shadow of the Erdtree, compiling four incredible screenshots of the many biomes and vistas you can find throughout the DLC.

Mystic Voltsy took a different route with its praise and focused on the artistic elegance of the Crucible Knight Wings skin, which allows the player to generate golden wings and dive into the enemy. As the golden wings lift you up, bright feathers fill the air in an incredible treat for the eyes.

In my own travels, I came across some of the most epic landscapes in Shadow of the Erdtree and had to stop to appreciate the incredible beauty that FromSoftware created. There was always the question of whether the DLC could match the masterpiece that is the original Elden Ring, but at least in visual scope, they certainly managed to achieve it.
