There are a variety of battle challenges that players can take on in Final Fantasy XIV with their Warriors of Light, and one of the most popular is Unreal Trials. With the arrival of Dawntrail, however, a new cycle of these trials will begin with more exclusive rewards to claim, so it’s important to know when exactly it’ll be time to dive back in.
When will Unreal Trials return in FFXIV Dawntrail?
While Dawntrail has a jungle full of new content that players can embark on during their inaugural adventure through Tural, the full game patch notes For version 7.0 of The Lodestone it has been revealed that Unreal Trials will not be part of the initial release and will be temporarily “disabled”.
Instead, Warriors of Light can look forward to the official return of Unreal Trials in patch 7.1, where a new one will debut with the same usual rules regarding battle mechanics, along with many Faux Hollows-exclusive rewards (e.g. mounts, minions, accessories). As noted in the most recent Live Letter, so far we know that Patch 7.05 will arrive on July 30, at the end of Dawntrail’s first full month.
Beyond that, Patch 7.1 will likely be coming, though we don’t have a concrete date for when that will arrive just yet. As for an educated guess, we can expect it to arrive in late summer, perhaps sometime in September. We should get more details closer to that date, and we’ll provide a quick update when we know more.
What will be the first Unreal Trial for FFXIV Dawntrail?
While we know that the return of Unreal Trials in Dawntrail will begin with a completely new one, we still don’t know what it will be and, according to lore, it probably won’t be revealed until we get our hands on the 7.1 patch notes.
However, there are many possibilities to consider about what it could be. The most recent batch of Unreal Trials took players through The Warring Triad with Sophia, Sephirot, and Zurvan, followed by Thordan in the Singularity Reactor, which was available until the last day before pre-Dawntrail maintenance.
Beyond that, we could see more trials of the Heavensward expansion appear, such as Bismarck in The Limitless Blue or, of course, Nidhogg in The Minstrel’s Ballad: Nidhogg’s Rage. That would seem to be the likely course, and then the final patches of Dawntrail could see the rise of Stormblood-era Unreal Trials. We’ll just have to wait and, as Yoshi-P fondly says, look forward to it.
