Two of the current vampire TV shows, What We Do in the Shadows and Interview With the Vampire, have a lively exchange of views on social media.


Two Vampire-Centered TV Shows, AMC Interview with the Vampire and FX What we do in the shadowshave engaged in a lively discussion on social media.


The back-and-forth between the two “horny vampire shows” began on Twitter, when the official What We Do in the Shadows account tweeted, “It’s all the rage now to interview vampires.” Interview with the VampireThe account responded, “No need to be jealous. Ask your interviewer to call ours,” leaving it up to interpretation whether this exchange was cheeky, hostile, or just plain flirtatious.

AMC Interview with the Vampire is based on the 1976 novel by acclaimed horror author Anne Rice, which centers on a 200-year-old vampire named Louis de Pointe du Lac, who tells his life story over the course of an interview with an anonymous reporter. In particular, the story focuses on him becoming a vampire and being mentored by Lestat. The series stars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt, Bailey Bass as Claudia, and Eric Bogosian as journalist Daniel Molloy.

The television adaptation of Interview with the Vampire was announced in June 2021, with Rolin Jones serving as executive producer along with Mark Johnson and Anne and Christopher Rice serving as executive producers. The series will consist of eight episodes and will premiere on AMC and AMC+. Interview with the Vampire was renewed for season 2 by AMC ahead of the series premiere on October 2.

“What Anne Rice created and what her fans were transfixed by forces us to take this transition from book to TV show with a huge responsibility,” Johnson said in an earlier interview. “It is imperative that we do not disappoint her fans, and yet we must ensure that this story, these characters, sing for a modern audience. We hope that this series will compel fans of Anne Rice to rediscover her works. We also hope that those viewers who have never read an Anne Rice novel rush to the bookstore eager to understand what all the fuss is about.

as for What we do in the shadows, the comedy series recently aired its fourth season on FX. Created by Jemaine Clemente, What we do in the shadows premiered on FX in 2019 and is based on the 2014 film of the same name, written by Clement and Taika Waititi. The mockumentary horror comedy series follows four vampires who live as roommates on Staten Island. Season 2 premiered in April 2020 and the series has been renewed for a fourth season ahead of the Season 3 premiere in September 2021. The series has already been renewed for Seasons 5 and 6.

the four seasons of What we do in the shadows are available to stream on Hulu, while new episodes of Interview with the Vampire air every Sunday on AMC and AMC+.
