It’s a big day for puzzlers at PG.com, if it’s not covering Netflix’s new take on Minesweeper , then it’s this new entry into the vanishingly small but still popular genre of Myst-likes. Venari takes you to a remote island where your goal is to uncover a fabricated Venari artifact, but to do so you’ll need to solve mind-bending puzzles along the way.
Compared to other Myst-likes we’ve seen on mobile, Venari boasts some surprisingly impressive graphics. While the type of people who play Unreal Engine demos for fun may find the textures somewhat flattering, the shadows and sandy beaches do a good job of creating an immersive and atmospheric environment.
This also goes for the puzzles, as they are all animated within the game’s environment and require you to pick up information from clues placed around the landscape. So if you’re looking for a game that doesn’t hold your hand or lock you into a fixed camera angle, Venari might be the game for you.

A MYST-intense adventure
While puzzle game purists aren’t likely to care too much about graphics, we like the fact that Venari gives you something else to look at. And nice touches like exploring the creepy and spooky caves seen in the trailer, flashlight in hand (despite the lack of danger) do a lot to put you in the mood of an intrepid explorer.
