Following its policy of bringing more exclusive PlayStation titles to PC, Sony recently released the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection for PC, which includes Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in one package, however, the product is not it has become just as popular as previous PlayStation releases on Steam so far.
as seen by CVGSteam’s peak concurrent players for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection has been nearly 11,000 so far, well below the peak concurrent users shipped for Horizon: Zero Dawn (56,000+), Days Gone (27,000+) , God of War (73,000+), and Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered (66,000+).
Regarding the fact that previous PlayStation titles reached their all-time concurrent player peak in their opening weekend, it’s hard to imagine that Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection could present a new record, but that doesn’t mean that the game may not become a long-term commercial success. That said, there are a number of reasons contributing to this moderately poor performance.
Unlike previous PlayStation ports on PC which had their self-contained and understandable stories, Uncharted 4’s story relies heavily on its previous iterations. Horizon: Zero Dawn, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, and Days Gone were the first entries in their franchise. Even God of War (2018) was a completely understandable story as it marked the beginning of a new saga for Kratos in a quite different world.
Naughty Dog recently confirmed that they will probably never be able to bring the first three Uncharted titles to PC, which is another reason why Uncharted 4 might not be an enjoyable experience on the same level as previous PlayStation games for PC gamers. What happened in the game blindly without knowledge of the characters, their past and their relationships.
Other than that, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection release schedule was packed with other great titles like Persona 5 Royal (PC version), Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Early Access, Gotham Knights, and even A Plague Tale: Requiem. . . Having all these new and anticipated titles released in a short period of time made it quite difficult for a 2016 port to become a best-seller on Steam.
