Nightdive Studios has worked on system Shock a long time, and for years, the aforementioned release is soon to the right end. The developer confirmed back in April of last year that the remake had already entered the final stages of development, and more recently, the Steam page was updated by a March 2023 launch window. This is the case for officially confirmed.

In an update posted on System ShocksKickstarter, Nightdive Studios confirmed the game will be launched in March 2023 for PC and consoles (although a specific release date hasn’t yet been narrowed down).

This is not the first time since the implementation of a tentative launch window was announced for the system Shockremake. The developer explained that the project scope and scale have developed dramatically as a result of development, while Prime Matter was released as the publisher’s result, and enabled a lot more polish and improvements to existing areas of the experience.

The scope and scale of the project has quickly changed and with Prime Matter joining the project, we could focus on quality of life improvements, bug fixing, and localization support the last major steps toward releasing a game were incredibly proud of, Nightdive Studios writes. This has also given us the time to go back and polish various aspects of the game that require that extra shine.

Some of the upgrades the developer made for this game are new enemy variants in later levels, an upgrade to the Citadel, an entirely new enemy type, a complete dismemberment system, updated weapon effects, etc.

System Shock will launch for Windows, Xbox One, and PC.
