The Long Dark Expansion Pass Release Date and Roadmap Announced

Hinterland Studio has announced the latest update to its popular game the long dark, as well as the roadmap of what’s to come in the future for the game.

The exciting open-world survival craft game will have an expansion pass released via Steam on December 5, 2022, titled Tales from the Far Land. Players will enjoy new regions and areas to explore, objective-based stories, new items for players to collect and use, and an overhaul of the game itself. In the trailer we see a snowy winter landscape seemingly abandoned and lost in time. We see the player, armed with a flashlight, traversing a dark and decrepit train track in search of supplies to stay alive. The player stumbles upon some kind of functional technology that could play a huge role in the new gameplay.

Tales from the Far Land is the first paid upgrade made for the long dark Survival Mode, which is releasing in several different installments over the next 12 months. With the exciting new content update comes the announcement of the roadmap for the long dark itself, giving us a glimpse of what’s in store for the game.

Players looking to save a buck or two have the option to stick with free game updates that will also be coming for the next 12 months. This includes things like fire-resistant arrows that can be crafted in any nearby fireplace or campfire, acorns that can be gathered from oak trees, and even a “Global Wild Upgrade.” This update allows for a more realistic feel, as some animals will migrate to different areas at different times of the year. It also creates a new dynamic for players to test and adapt to, meaning they will need to anticipate what wildlife will appear where and prepare for the worst in various new situations.
