Callisto Protocol death animations are not locked behind a paywall, Striking Distance Studios CEO, glen schofield Has confirmed.
The Callisto Protocol arrives next month and the highly anticipated sci-fi horror is billed as the spiritual successor to Dead Space. After all, the project is being led by one of Dead Space’s co-creators, Glen Schofield.
The death scenes aren’t being held back, sort of
However, reports were circulating this week that developers Striking Distance Studios were making some death animations behind The Callisto Protocol season pass. A list in the game steam page revealed details of its upcoming paid content.
The season pass will include story DLC, cosmetics, a new wave-based mode, as well as a higher difficulty mode. In addition, the list of the Contagion Package reads: “thirteen new Jacob death animations”. In addition, the Riot Bundle also includes: “twelve new enemy death animations”.
The prospect of death animations being locked behind a season pass paywall sent the internet into a bit of a frenzy, and with good reason. If this were the case, it would feel like a cheap shot to fans to lock something as mundane as death animations behind a season pass. Fortunately, that is not the case.
The CEO of Striking Distance Studios and director of The Callisto Protocol cleared up the confusion of the season pass and its death animations.
“To be clear: we’re not hiding anything from the core game for the Season Pass. We haven’t even started working on this content yet,Schofield tweeted.
“They are all new things that we will be working on in the new year. The fans have called for EVEN MORE kills, so we’re making it a priority next year..”
In other words, The Callisto Protocol will not only have a new DLC story and modes, but it will probably have new enemies and environments. As a result, new death animations are also being created to accompany the new content.
The Callisto Protocol is almost here!
So there you have it, no one is missing out on the base game content. However, additional Season Pass content is in development post-launch.
